QPIX Training courses are designed to cover all aspects of film production from concept development through to producing a finished product, but with an emphasis on the industry and running a business in that industry.

Participants in the course are encouraged to think in terms of teaming up with others to start their own business, where they can respond creatively and commercially to their clients’ brief and needs.  Along with the practical aspects of filmmaking, students will also cover the legal administrative and industrial standards for production and post-production.

The QPIX Training Certificate IV in Screen course has already proven itself a great success, and has attracted a wide range of participants, many of whom have been graduates of other courses but have understood the significant career value of undertaking this remarkable and unique course.

The course is run over 22 weeks, with students each taking a key creative role and responsibility in completing a minimum of 4 productions in production teams, including a music video clip for a working band, a short drama, a documentary and a television commercial for a business client.

Graduates will therefore secure a minimum of 4 screen credits and that critical industry calling card, a showreel.

The key elements of the program include:
                    Development of Concepts
                    Preparation of script for production
                    Camera operation & shot composition
                    Lighting design & operation
                    Sound recording & design
                    Editing sound & image
                    Directing
                    Producing
                    Production Management
                    Screen industry knowledge
                    Screen safety

Graduates of this intensive program will have a well-rounded understanding of, and skills in, the process of manufacturing product for the screen industries.  Graduates can go on to seek contracts as professional providers in at least 3 commercial areas of the industry – television commercials, corporate videos and music video clips.

The course hours are Monday – Thursday 9:00am – 5:00pm with some out-of-hours time required during production.

QPIX Training’s nationally recognised industry programs are designed to focus on the creative and entrepreneurial aspects of filmmaking.  We also provide strong, pragmatic training in the technical, manufacturing and administrative aspects of the process, but concentrate closely on the origination, development and delivery of product designed for the industry. In addition to this highly focused approach, QPIX Training also enjoys a partnership with QPIX, the state screen development centre.

QPIX’s unique mix of production programs and production-based services functioning within the same environment as our training, means students are never far from the realities, the work-a-day detail, and the excitement of creating production.

At QPIX Training, students learn through production more than they learn about production.  This is the QPIX Training difference.
