QPIX, in conjunction with Channel Seven Brisbane, has launched a project which is not only pace-setting in terms of low-budget television production for children in a state that long ago lost the great majority of its television production opportunities to product from interstate and overseas, but is also astoundingly a course in Television as well...! Successful participants in the production will also earn themselves a Diploma of Screen & Media (Television). "Production for broadcast is the focus and the key" says QPIX Training Director of Studies Kerry O'Rourke," but the qualification is a nice bonus on the side." O'Rourke says the show will be a magazine format entertainment for children from around 6 to 12 that focuses on the environment, and will also host a living website. "It is designed to be fun," says O'Rourke, "so the children engage more with the information." The shows will be shot live at the Channel Seven Studios on Mt Coot-tha. The show, (and the Course) will be called SCRUB TURKEY TV. It will begin in February 2009, and QPIX TRAINING is now open for expressions of interest.
