 This is QPIX’s equipment and facilities hire service, and QPIX Training accesses its needs from this source. Members of QPIX receive their equipment at special rates that average 50% below market rates, depending on the unit being hired.These rates are designed to stimulate production in the independent sector, and as QPIX is a non-profit operation, all proceeds go back into the project of increasing production and related screen industry activities in Queensland.The service provides a wide range of 3-chip digital video cameras, including HDV and DVCPRO-HD, plus camera accessories; 16mm film cameras; field sound kits and microphones; a range of additional field-kit equipment and accessories; and a number of AVID and FINAL CUT PRO edit suites. QPIX augments its holdings of equipment and facilities as regularly as possible, and maintains a research approach to the rapidly changing technical environment within the screen industries.QPIX Training students benefit from this knowledge in-house at QPIX, and are also in this way able to learn on contemporary equipment. The QPIX Equipment Access Service (EAS) supports the production of around 300 new productions every year, including short dramas, feature dramas, documentaries, community videos, corporate videos, music video clips, and television commercials.QPIX Training students benefit from the 1-year courtesy membership of QPIX they receive as students of QPIX Training, by being able as graduates to continue to hire from EAS at Member rates. |
